Consent to display 1 x illuminated wall mounted sign, 1 x non-illuminated wall mounted sign and 3 x non-illuminated post mounted signs (00842 -Advertising / 00843 – Listed Building).

Maidenhead Court Boathouse is a Grade 2 Listed Building located in the Riverside Conservation Area. The conversion of the building to a pre / nursery school should be undertaken as discreetly as possible to reflect the sensitive character of the building, the residential location in a Conservation Area and the riverside setting.

The three non -illuminated signs within the site and on the building are acceptable. However, the two signs on the perimeter should not be permitted as proposed. The main sign on the Court Road walled frontage should not be illuminated. The existing sign which has been in position for many years is of a similar size – but has never been illuminated. There are no other illuminated signs on frontage of the essentially residential properties of Court Road. The free-standing sign on the eastern boundary facing the tow-path should not be allowed. It is essentially advertising and contrary to the enhancement and character of the riverside setting and Conservation Area. Therefore, we object to the erection of the sign on the eastern boundary and the illumination of the entrance sign on Court Road.
