Application 21/00188 - Thames Riviera Hotel
Comments on Application 21/00188 - Thames Riviera Hotel Replacement of dining room windows with bi-fold doors, alterations to the balcony balustrade and alterations to the rear access arrangements. We objected to the previous applications to convert the hotel to residential apartments and were pleased that the subsequent appeal against the refusal was dismissed. At the online hearing of the appeal we made the case that the Thames Riviera Hotel was an important leisure riverside facility to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Indeed, we encouraged the owners to improve the future of the Thames Riviera Hotel as a unique hospitality asset through capital investment in the building, enhanced training of staff and upgrading of the offer to customers. Consequently, we welcome this proposal to open up the riverside aspect of the restaurant by introducing bi-fold doors to encourage al fresco dining and improve access onto a glass fronted balcony area. It is hoped that this will be the start of an ongoing programme of improvements to establish the Thames Riviera Hotel as the successful hospitality business that such a landmark setting deserves.
