Comments on Application 18/00109 - L'Leno, 14 Market Street

Extension to second floor and construction of a 4 storey extension to create 6 x 2 bed and 2 x 1 bed flats.

This is an attempt to create additional town centre accommodation over a restaurant unit. The four storey upwards extension is not in traditional materials - with the lower two storeys being brick faced. The proposed materials are not conducive to reflecting and enhancing the character of the High Street Conservation Area. In addition we would expect the provision of a lift in a six storey block. Living spaces in some flats are below standard. Consequently, although we have no problem with the scheme in principle, we object for the reasons stated above.
