Heritage Open Days (HODS)

Established in 1994, Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers.  Every year for four days in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history.

On several occasions in the recent past Maidenhead Civic Society has organised Open Days at local places of architectural and historical significance, including St Luke’s Church, Bisham Abbey and Shottesbrooke Church.  Hundreds of visitors from Maidenhead and surrounding towns and villages have been able to appreciate and learn more about these fine buildings from our team of trained guides.

It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.  So keep a look out for details of the next opportunity.
