Application 26/00790/VAR Maidenhead Waterways from Blackamoor Lane to Green Lane, Maidenhead. Vari

Comments on Application 26/00790/VAR | Maidenhead Waterways from Blackamoor Lane to Green Lane, Maidenhead. Variation (under Section 73a) of planning permission 11/02183/FULL without complying with part Condition 3 (time limit to complete).

Maidenhead Civic Society supports the Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group in seeking the deletion of Condition 3 via a Section 73 variation to the original planning application. The S73 Variation request will allow future lengths of the waterway along Moor Cut to be sympathetically restored - in stages, as funding allows and without any arbitrary time limit - while avoiding the need for a completely new planning application being required before restoration work can begin in the Moor Cut half of the waterway ‘Ring’.

The original Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) policy should now be reviewed, as the Borough Local Plan (BLP) is an adopted policy document, and it was supposed to be reviewed when the BLP was agreed. The original CIL policy had to be implemented within a certain timescale, before that original Section 106 funding scheme was abolished.

Completion of the waterway ring is integral to the long-standing regeneration vision for Maidenhead town centre, as indicated in a supplementary planning guidance (SPG) note. Means to finance this should be investigated.
