| Bisham Abbey: | |
Bisham “Abbey”, just north of Maidenhead, is now owned by the National Sports Council. The earliest part of the existing building is a preceptory of stone, built by the Knights Templar in the 13th century. It was later owned by the Montacute and Neville Earls of Salisbury in the 14th and 15th centuries; the Hoby family in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the Vansittart & Vansittart Neale families in the 18th-19th centuries.
